Erica founded The Complete Actor Studio because she is passionate about performance education and all of the important life skills that can be learned in the drama classroom. Erica is an actress, director, singer, writer & songwriter. She has appeared on numerous off-Broadway and regional stages and has had lead roles in television productions and many independent films, and the former voice of 1-800-NEW YORK. She is currently writing and producing her own web series, “May B Not”. She is also works as a director and teaching artist in the Education Departments of Hartford Stage and The Bushnell. Erica is a certified teacher with a concentration in diverse learning challenges. She is also a wife and mom to three kids, and loving every minute of the crazy ride. shaar Gupta is a freelance musician and teaching artist based in the Hartford area. Ish earned a bachelor's degree in music from UConn in May of 2016, where he studied private voice with Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone Rod Nelman, and sang in choirs under renowned conductor Dr. Jamie Spillane. His junior and senior years at UConn involved interning at the Met Opera in New York, performing at several local elementary schools with an opera outreach program, going on tour through the south with his a capella group, and again through Europe with UConn Choirs. He currently sings professionally with various ensembles and performing arts organizations, not limited to CONCORA, Novi Cantori, Opera Theater of Connecticut, and Connecticut Lyric Opera. A diverse performer, Ish writes his own music, and has sung and acted in several plays and musicals, with over 20 lead and ensemble credits. As an educator, he currently works as a teaching artist for Hartford Stage, Goodspeed Musicals, Middlesex Music Academy, and Lutz Children's Museum, teaching music, theatre, and various arts-integrated programming to students from all over the greater Hartford area. A native of Newtown, Connecticut, Ish is excited to be working with Erica Lubonta at the Complete Actor Studio!
Penelope graduated from Bucknell University with a double major in Theater and English, and also earned her M.A. in Theater from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has 7 years of classical vocal training and has performed in many musicals. Penelope has worked as an actor, as a production assistant at the Paper Mill Playhouse, and locally as director of youth and high school theatre in Simsbury and Avon. Penelope recently returned to her acting roots, appearing as “Mama Gladys” at Landmark Community Theater’s Thomaston Opera House production of Memphis-The Musical, and in multiple roles in A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room with the Simsbury Theater Guild. She lives in Simsbury with her husband Kevin and their two teenage sons.
Michael is the director of the Simsbury Arts Academy Musical Theatre program. He holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Plymouth State College. Michael has worked in professional, community and academic theatre and dance in a variety of capacities over the last 18 years. Michael has worked for the Sante Fe Opera, The Walnut Hill School and dozens of other notable companies. Currently, he is the full-time Technical Director for the Simsbury Public Schools Department of Music and Performing Arts in Simsbury, CT.
